Avenue Q

Still under the weather so haven't done much in the last few days.  Starting my new n ovel today, Animal Kingdom, but more about that later.  One of the things I would like to do with this blog is review some of the movies, shows, books, and other stuff that I come across.  So I will start with Avenue Q, which I watched last night.

I was pleasantly surprised with Avenue Q; happily enthralled after the first five minutes.  There are several wonderful songs such as 'It sucks to be me', 'The Internet is for porn', and 'Everyone's a little bit racist'.  These are all really catchy and humerous, but what I really liked about the show was the story.

I hadn't expected a puppet show to be so deep, but I found myself involved with each of the characters and saw the message that each one was supposed to portray.  I found messages of inequality, of the lonliness of adulthood, racism, friendship, poverty, ambition, philanthropy, and much more - including a monster with an addiction to porn.

While Avenue Q certainly isn't the best theatre production that I have ever seen, it is unique and well worth the price of the ticket.  Now I need to go (because the Internet is for porn, not blogging!)

Take care!

Feeling rough!

Feeling rough today and a little bit depressed.  How come the exciting journey of trying to be a writer has left me anxious and ill.  Guess it's the fear of failing?

Or maybe it's the fact that I am kept awake at all hours by my mother-dog, Daisy, and her 8 hyperactive pups!  I guess I should forgive them for being so beautiful.

Thrillobytes - Volume 1

So I hit 200 downloads for The Final Winter today which is pretty good for 3 days!  It is free till the 1st of June so let's hope that it moves as well for a small fee.  Something that I will never charge for however is my new, ongoing series of bytesize horror stories:  Thrillobytes.

I just released the first installment and it is available for free here at Smashwords.  I hope that people will read it, enjoy it, and then move onto my novels, but its basic function is to entertain myself and hopefully you all as well.

Volume 1 includes 3 stories:

Nigel - Picking up a hitchiker?  What's the worst that could happen.

The Peeling of Samuel Lloyd Collins - When the terrorists attack, they don't use a nuclear bomb.  They unleash something far far worse!

Animal Kingdom - A small taster of my next novel...

Really hope that you all enjoy it.

The Final Winter

Hi everyone:

I guess it wouldn't make much sense if my first post was not about my novel, The Final Winter.  I'm really hoping people get to read it as being a writer is the only dream I've ever really had, and it would be a hell of a lot sweeter if people enjoy what I've created!

The 70,000 word ebook  (print to follow soon) is available from both Amazon and Smashwords and is a modern-day horror novel set in a rundown British council estate ('The projects' if you're American).  It also includes a bonus of a disgusting short story called The Peeling of Samuel Lloyd Collins.

Below is the blurb for the novel:

On a night where it begins snowing in every country of the world, Harry Jobson is drinking himself unconscious, just like he has every night since the car crash that took his wife and child. Despite the worldwide panic, the snow does not concern Harry, he puts it down to media hype and paranoia, but when the lights go out and a stranger enters the pub, Harry realises that there are things happening tonight that are far worse than the weather.

Really hope you get to read it and please don't hesitate to contact me once you do.
